Mat.17:1-8; The vision that Peter, James and John had on the mountain where Jesus was transfigured in their presence, also the appearance of two of the greatest men of the old testament....one from heaven, Elijah and one from Abraham's bosom, Moses.
Now notice Peter's reaction to this vision, he wanted to build a tabernacle (church) for each of them, the church of Jesus, the church of Elijah and the church of Moses....
Just like mankind in general when confronted with a great man or woman of God who has great power in the Holy Spirit with signs following....... they build a church with their name blazoned up front to show they follow that person's teachings....
Listen to what Father God said to Peter.....This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, HEAR HIM.........
God is still telling us to hear Jesus, no one else.
Do not put anyone, no matter how anointed they are, OVER JESUS......God's Word, the Word of God, Jesus Christ comes first and last in all things...
Notice when Jesus touched them and said, Arise, and do not be afraid. When they lifted up their eyes they saw no one but Jesus Only........

From the title of your post... "Should people name churches after themselves" I would generally say NO. However, naming a church after oneself is different than having a church named after someone.

No. I don't think the body of Christ should be done that way.
To take this further, why did folks change what Jesus and the disciples and apostles taught about the Church? Today you have the denoms, titles, and tags, etc. It is like a pot of soup mixed up, whereas biblically it is the location that distinguishes the Church. To the Church at (fill in location here).
I think much of what man does is from the divisiveness they have in wanting to be the exception from everyone else, instead of looking at it as the "called out" in a certain locale. I remember a lady once tellling me, "You have finally found the one true church here at church blah, blah, blah." Some years later after I learned the Church is His body of called out belivers, I realized what a bunch of nonsense that was.
I really wonder what Jesus would say about this junk we have today. One day I sure we will find the answer to that. This does not mean that men meant bad by naming the buildings as they do, it most cases it is simply out of ignorance.

They all have their names on their ministries.
Lutherans named their church after Martin Luther.

Yeah Billy I know men do it... People don't go to Hell for naming a building after themselves but me personally, I wouldn't do it.

Would you consider the DAKE BIBLE BOARD or the DAKE BIBLE in the same category? Why or Why not?

Why not? A lot of differences for sure. What differences would you say.

Re: Should people name churches after themselves?
I asked the question because of another poster mentioning several ministries, not churches, that bear the name of the founder. ("Kenneth Copeland Ministries ,Oral Roberts Ministries,LeSEA after Dr.Sumrall,Jimmy Swaggart Ministries ,Kenneth Hagin Ministries....and Brother Branham of course." and your reply, while saying... "People don't go to Hell for naming a building after themselves but me personally, I wouldn't do it." I believe implies that you wouldn't also name a ministry after someone. If that is the case, then isn't this board and the Dake bible comparable? If you are talking ministries, then I believe they are, if you are speaking about churches (not simply a building) then they are in different categories.bibleman wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 10:17 pmNo I would not consider this discussion board the same as a church.Grandfather wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 10:06 pmWould you consider the DAKE BIBLE BOARD or the DAKE BIBLE in the same category? Re: Should people name churches after themselves?
When the Church was on 1055 Canton Road on the building was Grace Cathedral then in smaller letters E.W.Angley Pastor and Founder.
The Akron Church has Grace Cathedral Akron on the building. They hold youth services on Saturday there.
Reverend Angley moved to Cuyahoga Falls,Ohio to Rex Humbards old Church. It has Ernest Angley's Grace Cathedral on the building.
I can understand why you say that Bibleman.
