Webster says a church feast observed on a Sunday in March or April in commemoration of Christ's resurrection.
Some today use the words Resurrection Sunday instead of Easter Sunday or Pascha in Orthodox Churches.
The DAYS of our week are derived from other pagan gods.
Sunday comes from the the old English sunnadaeg from a Gemanic interpretation of the Latin dies solis sun's day.
Monday is named after Mani the Norse god of the moon and the god Sol's brother.
All the DAYS in our week our from Hellenistic astrology and named after Sun,Moon,Mars,Mercury,Hermes and Jupiter all pagan gods.
The MONTHS of our calendars come from ancient gods.Janus,Aphrodite etc.
Do we throw away our calendars now???
I have done a little reading on Jehovah's Witnesses over the years.
A certain follower of Judge J.F.Rutherford of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society ,a man named Clayton J.Woodworth
found out about the days and the months of our calendar being named after pagan gods.He was aghast!!!!
He mentioned this to Judge Rutherford at the Bethel breakfast table and suggested a immediate change in the calendars .
Judge J.F.Rutherford was a real character. He was a big man .And a brusque leader.
He threatened to commit the man to a psychiatric hospital if he continued on about the calendar. see Apocalypse Delayed by M.James Penton.
