Billy, All I can find in the Scriptures regarding politics is where we are commanded to obey those who rule over us, they will be held responsible for the rulership they have been given and they will have to give account for what they have done or not done.

"Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you." (Hebrews 13:17).

Hi Billy, is this you trying to justify a Christan voting for a leftist? I see a rant here, a vote for Obama was a vote for abortian, same sex marriages over government spending, socialism and liberalism, no matter how one tries to spin or justify it.

Wow, I would like to say that I am surprised at the responses that Billy has received, but then that would not be the truth. I see that everyone has talked about abortion, well what about Mittens, when he was governor of Massachusetts he was pro-abortion, then when he wanted to run for President on the Republican ticket he is now pro-life. Sorry, call me cynical but when a politician changes stripes like this I am very suspicious. If you believe that Mitt changed his position, fine. Then I guess that you believe that Obama changed his mind on gay marriage also, right?

Billy isn't talking about politics or supporting Obama or Romney, he is talking about the Bible and what Jesus taught. If that is a violation of rule # 2, then this board no longer has a purpose. Billy comes from a liberal Democrat background and holds to those beliefs, I thought that discussion was permitted as long as it does not violate the basics of the faith. I do not agree with Billy position and he know it. In fairness he should have mentioned some liberal commentators also, but to me that is not important. He asks a valid question, how often in the past four years did you honestly pray for the President, not that he would change or come around to your position, but simply prayed that God would bless him and that he would do God's will without telling God what it is? I admit, for myself it was very few times and that is wrong. Jesus no where preached or taught politics or economic systems, God is not a capitalist, socialist, or communist. God is not a Democrat or Republican, not in favor of republics versus monarchies, democracies versus dictators. God is above all of that. God allows humans to set these different form of governments and economies and then we reap what we sow.

i was not going to vote.it seems the Church i attend is backing President Obama.its a Black Church. So i voted for him.
i respect you so much Scott .you are so far beyond my intellect...i should have asked you for help here on this election thing.i have voted twice in 51 years.oh once in a primary up North with my ex wife.
for many years i was like a judge.a tea totaller.dry wedding...then ..some things went down and i was... not.after being delivered of that thing i feel great.but its odd.my medication works full power.so i feel loopey.

I'm trying to keep this thread on track and posted that God teaches us to respect those who rule over us. Now if the rulers are bad, or become bad after being elected thats none of our consern for God will hold them responsible. Were not psyco-analists, were ordinary human beings doing the best we can. What if every person who stood for election supported abortion and gay marriges, and no Christians voted at all, what then? I never heard Obama say, vote me in and I will immediately bring in Gay marriges? Abortion is alread being done not only in America but all over the world!

Who's without sin, Obama verses Romney?? So What? Leave billy alone guys. This board has degerated into a cry-baby site.

Our leaders down under swore publicly that there would be no carbon tax in Australia under my government / leadership, and her deputy leader said when questioned about the carbon tax, "Thats utter nonesence and a whole lot of scuttlel-butt promoted by the opposition, and what happened, they were elected and immediately brought in a carbon tax! Our land is overflowing with gays, abortions clinics are all over the place, our leader is an athiest, had an affair with a married man with children, ripped of hundreds of thousands of dollars from a union slush fund as a partner in a leagle firm, people love her and dont be surprised if she doesnt get in again next year?

Who cares?? not me, I'm waiting for Christ to come back, take me and mine out-a-here, and later usher in HIS GOVERNMENT!
