Can you see where saying this could be little insulting to God?
In effect you saying God you talk funny and I needed man's help to understand you. The first man I went to I believed but later another man told me the first gave me garbage and the second cleaned it all out, so now I'm good to go.

Think about it when you were a Catholic you believed the Catholics were right. Then you read another Bible and now you believe they are right and the Catholics are wrong. Do you suppose you could read a third interpretation and think both of the first two were wrong? If no why not?

Isn't it about time to really read what God says instead of what people are telling you he is saying?

macca is a very humble guy REVED.he knows more than most on here.but he plays off like hes ...not as sharp as a razor(he is)and he is an Australian Croc Dundee like Haz. they chase wild hogs with bowie knives and wrestle crocs and swim in billabongs and with great whites in the beautiful Aussie surf.
NOW I love Reverend Dake BUT he was not infallible.even he himself with all his brilliance and Anointing said this.the TEXT is inspired...the notes are not. if im wrong i hope someone...ahem ... :changes: will correct me.
i meant no offence to you REVED as my friend...i hope you know that.

dolph wrote:Sorry, but I have to respectably disagree with you folks. My 13 year old son just requested and received his own DARB. He saw my excited enthusiasm for my DARB and asked for his. I only wish the DARB had been my first Bible, then I would've grown much faster. But of course you have to love take and admire his clear, intelligent wisdom that could only have come from the Author Himself. Only Dake can take on the most complicated and controversial scripture and doctrine and turn it into poetry that harmonizes with all other scripture and doctrine. Why wouldn't someone want a Paul or Solomon to instruct them?? and Dake comes close.
thats cool dolph.13 and getting his first DARB.thats a wonderful blessing. :scatter:

I just had a born again experience while reading Dake's bible, it was all new to me Ed. the Catholic church never showed me Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, my work mate did.
The Catholic church did not lead me to the cross, my work mate did, the Catholic church did not tell me i can be free from sin, guilt, fear, my work mate and Dake did.
The notes and guides in the Dake bible showed me where i was wrong in my understanding of God and the bible.
God used that book and my work mate to set me free.
If i take your advice Ed, is that not being hypocritacal on your part after you said i should not listen to man?

If the bible is not in english what good is it to me, if i can not believe what it says in plain english what good is it to me, if, as you suggest i believe,as i did in the past with the Catholic church, that clouded the very word of God with their tradidtion, rites, fear, lies, entrapment etc where will that get me, Ed??????
I am done with being a puppet in the hands of a denomination that rule the life of their people, there is such a thing as freedom in the Holy Spirit and believing what God tells us in His word.. and if wants to use Dake or anyone else thats fine with me.

Think about what you are saying.
You said the Catholics lead you astray by telling you what the Bible said.
I'm saying that if we don't read and understand the Bible for ourselves we stand the chance of being led astray again. That is why I advocate not using a bible with commentary but rather instead to seek the Holy Spirit to give me understanding.

If we use someone else's commentary be it Dake or John MacArthur or Matthew Henry we are reading man's opinion of what God is saying. That opinion while it may be correct is not inspired nor infallable.

Commentators any commentator is doing exactly what you said the Catholic church did, telling you what they want you to believe. They may be right or they may be as wrong as you think the Catholic Church was.
