I heard Swaggart say that he reads through the Bible every year and he uses the Dake's Bible each time. I always thought Swaggart was a great evangelist but his teaching lacked the anointing or authority. He's better when he sticks to what God has called him to do. I hated when he got involved in the Jim Bakker and Marvin Gorman and finally, his own scandals.

I am going to buy an Expositor's Study Bible though. Looks very good.

There are so many excellent study materials available for free on the web now. It is great! When I run across a passage of scripture I want more light on, after going to Dake, I pull out my Jamieson, Faucett and Brown commentary. John McArthur has a pretty decent commentary but I've only look through it a few times and I'm not sure how he stands on spiritual things.
I do own an Expositor's Study Bible it is very similar doctrinally to Dakes commentary not really in format, but you can really tell Swaggart used the Dake Bible quiet a bit in his commentary, especially concerning the dispensations and the pre-adamites. What I do love about the Expositors Bible is were the commentary is located, and the emphasis on faith in what Christ did on the cross as a means of justification and sanctification...

Well on the similarity of the Dake Bible and the Expositor's Bible... there was a law suit and they settled out of court.
Swaggart promised to NOT print anymore without giving Dake credit.
That is when the first set of the commentaries where in one format and then he change them into a different format.
A pre-Dake and post-Dake Expositors commentary.

I have the Bible and a few of the commentaries. and on the Bible I really wish he had put the notes at the bottom or the side. Some of them get long and placed in the Scripture sort of get s me off track... But that is just me.

Hey Jay do you have computer software?

There are several good ones on line that have a lot of free commentaries.
I did some proof-reading for the Dake's large print edition and they gave me the Wordsearch software with Dake's notes for that. I use those a LOT. That is all I have as far as software. There are a lot of things available online that I use too. Bible.cc and Biblegateway.com both have good stuff!

What is sad is that he (Swaggart) has a history of this. He's a hard man to trust. I'm not referring to his marital infidelities but to more than one attempts at plagiarism.

There have been about 210 FREE books for a couple of years now, so depending on when you last accessed your free books, if you have them all or not.

PROBLEM - Right now WordSearch is experiencing a problem when you access their site within your WordSearch program. It takes yo there but does not tell you which books you have or don't have. Hope they get this fixed soon, but they have given no date on fixing it.

heh...wow, Jay, that was quite awhile ago. I remember doing the same thing, and getting the Dake Wordsearch, also. But my copy has since disappeared, sadly.

I have been having to use a virtual machine to run the old version of WordSearch I have with Windows XP. My computer uses Windows 7 and is 64 bit. I just got off the phone with them and bought an upgrade to WordSearch 10 for $29.95. They told me that I would still be able to use the Dake Bible.
