Re: Believe ONLY and be saved? Anderson? Swaggart?

Hi Billy, Brief explanation: Galatianism (or as some call it, Judaizing) comes from the false teaching Paul fought against in the Book of Galatians. It’s the claim that a person can ultimately be saved by Jesus Christ ONLY if he keeps the commandments of God. - - - - - Long explanation: Often it’s t...

Re: Believe ONLY and be saved? Anderson? Swaggart?

I believe you left out the rest of Romans 8:1 "who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit." Nope. Those words are not in the earlier manuscripts at 8:1. But they are in v.4 where they identify those for whom the "requirement of the Law" (ie that sin must be punished by de...

Re: Believe ONLY and be saved? Anderson? Swaggart?

I think the problem arises when people confuse laws of the NT with "the law" of Moses. Just because the law of Moses was done away in Christ... does that mean that all other laws of the NT, Christians are no longer to keep those laws what-so-ever? That there are NO laws that the Christian...

Re: Believe ONLY and be saved? Anderson? Swaggart?

there have always been two perversions of grace we are always needing to be on guard against: the hyper grace attitude, and Galatianism which mixes the keeping of some kind of law with grace.

Re: Can Christians disagree on the Second Coming???

 Reverend Dake was a non-traditional dispensationalist Thank you Pastor. I put it up for you scholars to comment on it.I am no scholar for sure. I was taught in my home Church = number 2. In the Church of Christ i was taught = number 4. Some of the heavy duty Dispensational Believers ...

Re: Can Christians disagree on the Second Coming???

I don't see any New Testament writer suggesting a dispensational approach to interpreting God's plan. Classic dispensationalism splits the one people of God and the one program of God into two separate plans and promises in the history of redemption. So for example in classic dispensationalism Israe...

Re: Rapture during Feast of trumpets

 Matthew 24:36, But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. The Feast of Trumpets cannot be a time indicator for the rapture because: #1 the rapture can come at any time, according to Paul's teaching in his letters #2 the Feasts were celebrations...

Re: Can Christians disagree on the Second Coming???

The 4 you listed all have to do with the millennium, which I guess I think of as one aspect of Christ's Second Coming. When it comes to that, I do feel there can be disagreement among genuine believers. That is to say, a person's views of the millennium do not determine whether or not he is saved. I...

Re: Which Bible Version do you use?Do you ever read or look at others?

Well, yes and no . . . I lived in the same town as the founder of what was once called "The Boston Church of Christ" (now known as the International Churches of Christ). His group broke away from the Churches of Christ in the early 1990s amid a lot of controversy. And his is the only group...
