Re: Believe ONLY and be saved? Anderson? Swaggart?

Hi Billy, Brief explanation: Galatianism (or as some call it, Judaizing) comes from the false teaching Paul fought against in the Book of Galatians. It’s the claim that a person can ultimately be saved by Jesus Christ ONLY if he keeps the commandments of God. - - - - - Long explanation: Often it’s t...

Re: Believe ONLY and be saved? Anderson? Swaggart?

I believe you left out the rest of Romans 8:1 "who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit." Nope. Those words are not in the earlier manuscripts at 8:1. But they are in v.4 where they identify those for whom the "requirement of the Law" (ie that sin must be punished by death) has been met: t...

Re: Believe ONLY and be saved? Anderson? Swaggart?

I think the problem arises when people confuse laws of the NT with "the law" of Moses. Just because the law of Moses was done away in Christ... does that mean that all other laws of the NT, Christians are no longer to keep those laws what-so-ever? That there are NO laws that the Christian MUST keep...

Re: Believe ONLY and be saved? Anderson? Swaggart?

there have always been two perversions of grace we are always needing to be on guard against: the hyper grace attitude, and Galatianism which mixes the keeping of some kind of law with grace.

Re: Rapture during Feast of trumpets

 Matthew 24:36, But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. The Feast of Trumpets cannot be a time indicator for the rapture because: #1 the rapture can come at any time, according to Paul's teaching in his letters #2 the Feasts were celebrations...

Re: Can Christians disagree on the Second Coming???

The 4 you listed all have to do with the millennium, which I guess I think of as one aspect of Christ's Second Coming. When it comes to that, I do feel there can be disagreement among genuine believers. That is to say, a person's views of the millennium do not determine whether or not he is saved. I...

Re: Did the Father forgive those who murdered Jesus?

 "After Christ's resurrection the executioners and others did have an opportunity to know the truth of who Jesus was and to respond, because Paul writes "the gospel that you have heard . . . was proclaimed in all creation under heaven" (Col 1:23). At that time they would need to respond in re...

Re: Did the Father forgive those who murdered Jesus?

This is one of those passages in the New Testament where the original languages can shed some interesting light. The verb "said" is in the imperfect tense, which means that Jesus " kept on saying Father, forgive them" (the NASB tries to bring this out by translating "Jesus was saying"). In other wor...
